Emerald city!!

Wizard of OZ is my favorite 1930's movie of all time.  My favorite character is the scarecrow.

The scare crow is in need of a brain, even I feel at times that I need a new brain or a reset on life!

The Tin man is in need of heart he is longing to find love and meaning in his life isn't that what we all want to find meaning and love in our lives, the hope of someone loving us just the way we are. well God does this for us. he loves us, you and me just the way we are without spot and with out blemish, he loves us for we were made in his own image.

Next is the cowardly lion he is to find the COURAGE in his life to not be afraid of things to come!!

“You have plenty of courage, I am sure," answered . "All you need is confidence in yourself. There is no living thing that is not afraid when it faces danger. The true courage is in facing danger when you are afraid, and that kind of courage you have in plenty.”

and dorothy well she just want's to go home or and just 3 clicks of her red heels sends her home.  Home is where the heart is, so if home is your husband your kids, or anything that takes up time in our hearts that is where home is!!!

 scare crow song!
Consulting with the rain; And my head I'd be a scratchin'While my thoughts are busy hatchin'If I only had a brain.
I'd unravel ev'ry riddle for myIndividdleIn trouble or in painWith the thoughts that you'll be thinkin'You could be another LincolnIf you only had a brain.
Oh, I, could tell you whyThe oceans near the shoreI could think of things I'd neverThunk before,And then I'd sit down and think some more.
I would not be just a muffin',My head all full of stuffin',My heart all full of pain; And perhaps I'd deserve you and beEven worthy even youIf I only had a brain.

well this year my old stomping grounds is putting on a musical the wizard of OZ and my very own daughter is in the musical as a flying monkey and she is also a manicurist at the end of the movie with the cowardly lion.

stranger tides and changing tides

So the strangest things can happen to a person, I work for a senior living facility in the advance dementia unit.  well most of these patients are in pain and can't recall memories or even their own names. On February 1st 2023 a patient was angry after waking up, she was screaming and pushing her walker into people, this is scary for me as I have never saw anything like this before. It was really stressing me out and making it hard for me to concentrate on my work.  I know they all mean well the nurses and aides, but in some situations you have to just grin and bare it. They took the patient into isolation, and I left the area to get a breather too!!  After that I went back to work cleaning up the household, and preparing lunch for the residents, the patient was in a much better calm mood also.  It took me a while to clean up lunch but when I was finished I was on my way home, it was a great feeling to be out of there, where I can focus on my own family and doing things that is meant for us to survive.  All of the kids came home on the bus, and I was surprised because I thought that they were staying after school. I was glad to see my kids and talk about the day with them, we had a short dinner tacos, then two kids went to bible study, Casey and I stayed home while Randy took the other kids to church.

An absolutely amazing muscle the brain is.  I've learned so much about the brain, I'm not a surgeon by any means but with Nami of the greater toledo area, I learned about the cognitive side of the brain certain things about it that is wonderful all of the cells and the different parts of the brain. for instance,

 It has three main sections:

  • Cerebrum: Your cerebrum interprets sights, sounds and touches. It also regulates emotions, reasoning and learning. ...
  • Cerebellum: Your cerebellum maintains your balance, posture, coordination and fine motor skills. ...
  • Brainstem: Your brainstem regulates many automatic body functions.

The frontal lobes are important for voluntary movement, expressive language and for managing higher level executive functions. Executive functions refer to a collection of cognitive skills including the capacity to plan, organize, initiate, self-monitor and control one's responses in order to achieve a goal.

Hippocampus is a complex brain structure embedded deep into temporal lobe. It has a major role in learning and memory.

The parietal lobe is one of the major lobes in the brain, roughly located at the upper back area in the skull. It processes sensory information it receives from the outside world, mainly relating to touch, taste, and temperature. Damage to the parietal lobe may lead to dysfunction in the senses

The occipital lobes sit at the back of the head and are responsible for visual perception, including color, form and motion. Damage to the occipital lobe can include: Difficulty with locating objects in environment.

since were on the topic of dementia.

Dementia is not a specific disease but is rather a general term for the impaired ability to remember, think, or make decisions that interferes with doing everyday activities. Alzheimer's disease is the most common type of dementia. Though dementia mostly affects older adults, it is not a part of normal aging.
Frontotemporal dementia is an umbrella term for a group of brain disorders that primarily affect the frontal and temporal lobes of the brain. These areas of the brain are generally associated with personality, behavior and language. In frontotemporal dementia, portions of these lobes shrink (atrophy).

radical acceptance

 What is radical acceptance?

DBT Skill: Radical Acceptance

Radical acceptance is when you stop fighting reality, stop responding with impulsive or destructive behaviors when things aren't going the way you want them to, and let go of bitterness that may be keeping you trapped in a cycle of suffering.
So the short and skinny of this, imagine there is time line of past events in front of you happy moments, sad moments, memories of when traumatic things happened.  So with radical acceptance, the work that you are doing through Cognitive behavioral therapy is taking that date or specific time period in your life, and leaving it where it was, not picking back up and taking it with you where ever you go.  This has brought me some clarity about certain things in my past, of which I will not go into detail of.
what does God say about acceptance?
God invites us to accept the inescapable realities placed in front of us. We can either turn away from that acceptance of life and continue on our own, or we can plunge into the 'reality of the situation' and try to find God there in new ways.
I am willing to accept things as they are the events of the past are not effecting my everyday situations.

Not my cup of tea.

So, recently I started reading the book untamed by Glennon Doyle, I am not impressed however, after the 1st two chapters, I believe that a great story has to come with in the first 2 chapters to catch my attention, lately I have been reading a lot of self help books some that I can actually highlight and notate the margin or underline meaningful words or statements that are meaningful to me.

here's why I am not a fan, the book is about how to start pleasing people and learning how to live a life of peace and fulfillment, the characters are 2 females who are married, this is not something that is Biblically sound. same sex marriage is a sin, yes I am to love others who are different than me but I don't have to love their sin, My brother has a husband and yes I love him and no I don't believe his ways are correct the bible says

[2] Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband. [3] Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband. 1Cor. 7:2-3

cheer competition 2023

This year kyleigh cheer squad is in competition for MHSAA CHEER!
I am very proud and glad she enjoys this, I was captain of my cheer squad both junior and senior year in high school, so I am subjective to critiquing every move and stunt, we were taught by UCA at BGSU to do stunts.

the path of least resistance

Here's what this means, to choose the easiest way to do something instead of trying to choose the best way.

What's the path of least resistance? Simply said, it's a way of living that contains more flow and ease, and, you guessed it, less resistance. This means less upstream movement, less struggle, and less feeling blocked, ultimately leading to a more enjoyable and less stressful experience of life.
what is the purpose of your life, do you know what were put here on earth to do??
Our purpose is to "evolve" during our lifetime because that is consistent with our evolutionary purpose. Thus, an answer to The Ultimate Question of "What is the purpose of life?" is that we are here so that we can continue to live, adapt, learn, and grow. A purpose of life, and our purpose, is to continue to evolve.
The bible verse is Matthew chapter 7:13-14
Matthew 7:13-14 KJV
Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
I honestly believe that our purpose in life is to worship the lord and to claim his holy name. to tell others about Jesus and not just tell them but show him and his love as often as we possibly can.  For his grace and mercy is great and its for you and me to enjoy this life.

Just do one more, just for today

As I sit down to write this blog our I am reminded that if you are struggling with anything in life, I want to take this next sentence seriously, Just do one more, whatever that one more may be, one more repetition of that exercise set or just one more cleaning out that closet or just one more fixing of that part on your vehicle "THAT ONE MORE" may just be what you need to SUCCEED we get so caught up in everyday humdrums of life.

Just for today, if this means, breathing, showering, eating. taking care of chores, just try to do it just for today. I sometimes let all the days hit me at once and I'm still doing this, I have to remember that there is only 24 hours in a day to relish in the happiest of moments, and not dwell on the negative,  for instance my husband and I went out for a late lunch/early dinner, at red robin, the had excellent food.  I had the chicken corn chowder, and side salad, randy had a burger and french fries dipped in hot cheese sauce.
