Masquerade!!!!

This is my absolute song and musical of all time The Phantom of the opera,  If I ever have the chance to see it again I will!!!

what is a mask or masking exactly, the definition is this Masking describes the act of hiding or suppressing symptoms of a mental health condition. People usually mask in situations and environments where they are expected to act in a socially normative way — like at school or work, or when meeting new people.

Sometimes I think of my dogs when I am masking like a pitbull the name and the stigma that goes along with it.  super mean or so people think but in their hearts super sweet and kind.

Masking can also be described as concealing one emotion by portraying another emotion, that is concealing negative emotions with other emotions either positive or negative. Masking is to behave in certain ways that would help one hide or repress their emotions that are not approved by those around them.

How do you know you are masking?? Signs you or someone you support may be masking include: Mirroring others' facial expressions or social behaviors. Rehearsing or preparing scripted responses to comments. Imitating gestures such as handshakes or initiating eye contact.

so here's the lyrics to masquerade

Monsieur Andre!Monsieur Firmin!
Dear Andre, what a splendid partyThe prelude to a bright new yearQuite a night, I'm impressedWell, one does one's best
Here's to usThe toast for the cityWhat a pity that the Phantom can't be here!
Masquerade!Paper faces on paradeMasquerade!Hide your face so the world will never find you
Masquerade!Every face a different shadeMasquerade!Look around, there's another mask behind you
Flash of mauve, splash of puceFool and king, ghoul and gooseGreen and black, queen and priestTrace of rouge, face of beast
Faces!Take your turn, take a rideOn the merry-go-roundIn an inhuman race
Eye of gold, thigh of blueTrue is false, who is who?Curl of lip, swirl of gownAce of hearts, face of clown
Faces!Drink it in, drink it upTill you've drowned in the light, in the soundBut who can name the face?
Masquerade!Grinning yellows, spinning redsMasquerade!Take your fill, let the spectacle astound you
Masquerade!Burning glances, turning headsMasquerade!Stop and stare at the sea of smiles around you
Masquerade!Seething shadows breathing liesMasquerade! You can fool any friend who ever knew you
Masquerade!Leering satyrs, peering eyesMasquerade!Run and hide, but a face will still pursue you
What a night, what a crowd!Makes you glad, makes you proud! All the crème de la crèmeWatching us, watching them (and all our fears are in the past)
Three monthsOf relief, of delight!Of Elysian peace! And we can breathe at last
No more notes, no more ghostHere's a health, here's a toastTo a prosperous yearTo our friends who are here
And may the splendour never fade (what a joy, what a change)What a blessed release! And what a masquerade!
Think of itA secret engagementLook, your future brideJust think of it
But why is it secret? What have we to hide? You promised me
No, Raoul, please don't, they'll seeWell then let them seeIt's an engagement, not a crime
Christine, what are you afraid of?Let's not argue (let's not argue)Please pretend (I can only hope)You will understand in time (I'll understand in time)
Masquerade!Paper faces on paradeMasquerade!Hide your face so the world will never find you
Masquerade!Every face a different shadeMasquerade!Look around, there's another mask behind you
Masquerade!Burning glances, turning headsMasquerade!Stop and stare at the sea of smiles around you
Masquerade!Grinning yellows, spinning redsMasquerade!Take your fill, let the spectacle astound you
Why so silent, good Messieurs?Did you think that I had left you for good?Have you missed me, good Messieurs?I have written you an opera
Here I bring the finished score"Don Juan Triumphant"Fondest greetings to you allA few instructions just before rehearsal starts
Carlotta must be taught to actNot her normal trick of strutting around the stageOur Don Juan must lose some weightIt's not healthy in a man of Piangi's age
And my managers must learnThat their place is in an officeNot the artsAs for our star, Miss Christine Daaé...
No doubt she'll do her bestIt's true, her voice is goodShe knows, though
Should she wish to excelShe has much still to learnIf pride will let her return to meHer teacher, her teacher...
Your chains are still mineYou belong to me!

You are welcome!!!
